I took an almost forced break from posting the Pic Of The Day as my beloved Canon 30d was having issues. I’d bought the camera used, and it came with a couple of issues. Mainly, the kit lens on it had a kinda screwed up zoom function. Then, in recent weeks, the shutter trigger had gotten harder to press, and finally last weekend the machine took a slight fall and the battery door broke. The camera still performed okay, but these issues led me to realize that I needed a new camera. I had considered the new Canon XS and a couple others, but really love all the features available with the 30d (and my previous 20d). Luckily, a friend of mine was selling her 40d, and I sold my trusty 30d and bought up the 40d just yesterday. It came with a whole new kit lens, and it works flawlessly. Feels like new. The Canon 40d has MANY improvements over the 30d, and though isn’t as new as the XS or others, I think it’s current enough. I’m wicked happy with it.
Though the below pic has some weird focus issues, I thought it was a good representation of what the 40d can do, with the nice cheap little Canon 50mm 1.8 lens that I love.
